Groundbreaking 70-Story Solar-Powered Tower Set to Transform Brickell Skyline
November 15, 2024A groundbreaking 70-story The Residences at 1428 Brickell, the first globally to integrate solar power directly into its glass façade, has begun construction in Miami’s Brickell district. The tower will feature a unique 20,000-square-foot “Solar Backbone,” composed of photovoltaic panels seamlessly embedded within the building’s glass exterior. This design will enable the tower to generate approximately 175 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, offsetting around 4,700 tons of CO2 and reducing oil use by 3,000 barrels.
Set to reach a permanent height of 861 feet, this project will become one of Miami’s tallest residential structures. Construction cranes will extend to over 1,000 feet as the tower rises. Planned amenities will span 80,000 square feet, enhancing residents’ experience in each of the 195 luxury units. Prices for these exclusive residences range from $3 million to $7 million, with penthouses reaching between $8 million and $60 million.
General contractor John Moriarty & Associates lead construction. Ytech drives the development, with acclaimed design firms ACPV Architects and Arquitectonica spearheading the architectural vision.
