40 South Florida Billionaires Secure Spots on Forbes 400 List of America’s Wealthiest
October 18, 2024South Florida’s 2024 Forbes 400 list includes a mix of familiar faces and several new names, like the founder of OnlyFans and a famous sandwich chain owner. These billionaires hail from various industries, including investments, tech, and even comic books.
Palm Beach County led the region with 21 billionaires, followed by Miami-Dade with 14 and Broward County with five. Altogether, South Florida’s 40 billionaires boast a collective net worth of $520.7 billion—a significant increase from last year’s 35 billionaires with a combined cost of $233.9 billion. This 123% jump is mainly due to Jeff Bezos relocating to Miami-Dade at the end of 2023. Notable returnees to the list include Donald Trump and Catherine Lozick. At the same time, newcomers Bernard Marcus and William Berkley now call South Florida home.
At 54, Miami Beach’s Orlando Bravo is the youngest billionaire from the region, while Miami’s Norman Braman, at 92, is the oldest. Two women from Broward, Lozick and Elisabeth Delucca, represented the local female billionaires.
Forbes analyzed more than 750 candidates to create its annual list, vetting each through interviews, SEC filings, court records, and other sources. The minimum net worth to qualify for this year’s list increased to $3.3 billion, compared to $2.9 billion in 2023.

- Elon Musk: $244 billion
